15 more minutes!

Well here's a thought. My work timing (I thought) starts at 7:15, so my daily routine includes leaving the house around 7:15 to reach the office at 7:45...

Now, Human Resources has just sent a letter to everyone in the bank about staff being late and bla bla bla, and how we should all adhere to the bank timing. Turns out, our actual work hours are from 7:30! How did I get that wrong? So in fact, every day I thought I was in half an hour late, turns out i'm only 15 minutes late.

Great, now I can sleep an extra 15 minutes every day!

You should be compensated for all the daily 15 minutes...all these while !

Considering the bahraini mindset to arriving on time for work late more often then not....I think it would serve the company better to indicate that work starts at 7 am rather than 730....then when you arrive habitually at 730...you are in fact right on time...lol.

Funnily enough, we had a meeting at work today and the topic of being late for work came up, and my boss looked at me from the corner of her eye, because apparently I'm the only one coming late

Well, OK I do sometimes come late to work (like today for instance) but the thing is that living in Riffa has become a nightmare for any commute (going to or from Manama)leaving at 6:30 or at 7:00 are both the same for me as I arrive at work at nearly the same time albeit a 3-4 minute difference.

From my house in Riffa, I have to first navigate through all the road works in my neighbourhood then pass two schools, then the BDF (the closer to 7 am the worse!)then to Isa Town roundabout then Salmabad Roundabout, then wait a bit at the Kharee6a traffic lights, then squeeze myself through new Zing to Salmaniya before finally reaching Gudaibiya

So I literally face every traffic jam in this country except the Muharraq ones and the Highway with the road works starting recently.

The worst thing about it is that the other employees are from Muharraq and Manama so their worst commutes would be 15 minutes whilst I take 40-50 minutes everyday

and they expect me not to come late pfffffft

The only time I stopped being late for work was when I starting working for myself. Funny thing that.

Where I work, if you're late quite a bit your paycheck will get raped. If you continue to be late, your yearly bonus will be gang banged. Pardon the references.

yacoub; yes, exactly, what the... we HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE LATE! WE ARE BAHRAINI!

CG; yes, well, that makes sense. whats the point of slaving your life away for some greedy corporation?

Desert; of course! carpe diem baby!

Shoush; yeah, i should be compensated with a hefty paycheck

c'est; i'm everyone's hero.

N; its ok. im sure it feels the same as what you have described
