Up till about yesterday, it was pretty close, but I think the deciding factor happened last night. Say what you will about it, but the scales have finally been tipped to the Obama side, as both the daughter and brother of former US president John Kennedy decided to support Barack as their favourable candidate. Now, JFK was one of the people's most loved presidents, and the ideals of his family are going to play out very strongly in public opinion. Hillary herself doesn't look too pleased (just listen to her speeches, there's some sort of frustration there, and a fake plastered smile on her face too).
My opinion? Obama is going to be the leading candidate for the Democratic party, and with the backing of the Kennedys, Oprah, and a bunch of other heavyweights, he's definately up for president. I would personally vote for him if I had a chance to, just for the wise-cracks he makes every now and then (you need a president that makes you laugh once in a while, and hopefully not AT him).
Somehow, however, I have this feeling he's going to get shot. Expect numerous assasination attempts as the first black president steps onto the American stage; normal and expected, actually.
Anyhow, let's fast forward to 2009 and see him in the White House; what does that signal for us in the Middle-East? Simply put, I quote him: "I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda. I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars."
Sounds hopeful. Let's just wait and see.
talk is cheap
ReplyDeleteand although he preaches change, change is not easy to come by.
i like obama, but i dont expect him to work miracles.
Yeah, but he is, like, 12 years old.
ReplyDeleteeshda3wa; he's screaming change, and im sure there's gonna be a little bit of change; the situation in the US is so bad that ANYONE can make change. like you said, not miracles, but just a few different policies here and there. he'll get tired by the second year.
ReplyDeleteshale; a little older. im pretty sure he's reached puberty already.
That's right, we shall wait and see ;)
ReplyDeleteDamn! I'm not into politics-hope more expect less
ReplyDeleteIf they were smart (and they are not), they would run as a team for the presidency. Their egos however will not permit that. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteThough it's smart politicallly as far as beating the Republican candidate, they'd be a bad team when working out policy. It's been an interesting campaign so far and will get even better as it goes on I think
ReplyDeleteObama bama boo bama, bannana fana foo fama. Fee, fii, foo famaa. Obama!
ReplyDeleteI don't think their egos, especially Hillary's, would allow for an Obama/Clinton or even a Clinton/Obama ticket. Policy would work out fine since on many issues the two are near identical, but the egos do pose a big problem.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I do not trust a politician. However, given the "choices" I'd rather vote Obama, 'cause he seems to bring a bit of freshness. For once, there isn't a super-dumb/self-proclaimed saviour republican or certain heavily Jewish supported/leaning Democrat.
ReplyDeleteI was listening to GWB's state of the union - and in it, not once, did he say "freedom" for the Palestinians - however, he did chant away, freedom & democracy for other nations.
Perhaps Obama, can help balance it for the US, and those in the Middle East, for a better tomorrow.
Really? i like her imagine willbe the firs women president LOL
ReplyDeleteHe should be elected just for the sheer fact that he must have a very large set of lower male body parts for attempting to be the first African American to make it to the White House.(ok the first with a real shot at it)..all the while knowing that there is some white extremist polishing his rifle and muttering to himself about "it will be a cold day in Hell before he allows his country to be run by a n****r!"...balls of steel Im telling you.
ReplyDeleteHillaries balls are nowhere near as big....lol.
I cant wait !!
ReplyDeletechanah oboy ele emrashe7 rooo7ah :)
John McCain will be the next president ... I'm no political expert but Mitt romney will lose the lead because he is ' mormon' ... H.Clinton will lose because Oprah loves him ... so McCain Vs Obama .. as you mentioned he has this " Hussain" tag .. no matter how much he will cry that he is not Muslim/black, at some point Americans are going to get 'born again' and once again bring an Republican in to Presidency and they beat their chest for the mistake they have done ...
ReplyDeleteHard to believe this theory ..buti know Jerry Fletcher would :D
